New Path

My journey will never reach an end point it just takes me down different paths through different aspects of my life. As most of you know from reading my blog I have been struggling with weigh gain, fatigue, and other things. Well, through sticking it out and a great team of doctors, I finally have my diagnosis-Hashimoto Disease. It is a complex disease that I can’t fully explain yet but I do know that it is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid but it is usually paired with other disorders. For now I just know the one part, but in time there may be other parts too as I still struggle with female stuff be balanced out.

Through learning from other coaches, OPEX’s coaching classes, and from some of my own studies is to stay positive and focus on the good things. I may have had a little pitty-party for myself because things always happen the hard way in life for me. But, once I stewed on that for a few days I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and found the positives in the journey. All the puzzle pieces of my health are finally starting to come together and it is a new path on my journey.

Due to the new diagnosis my training had to change in order to fit the needs of my health.  I am so blessed and thankful for my coach and the team at OPEX, where else can you have your individualized workouts written for your medical needs as well as your fitness needs?! It is a no-brainer! Even though new me is more positive I still am hung up on the scale numbers. The good is that I did gain 8 pounds of muscle in a month, but wow the number on the scale is not my favorite these days. But, there is a light being shed on the situation and I know the puzzle will fall into place in time.

Friday’s Training:

A: BS @20×1; 3-5 x4 R3M

B: DB RDL @40×0; 6-8 x4 R2M

C: Press @ 10×2; 5, 5, 5 R2M

D: FLR Acc 3M

Notes:

A: 95×5, 115×5, 135×5, 145×3. It is a change getting used to going heavy again. Today was the first day I thought having knee sleeves especially for my right might have been helpful. I did use my foam core belt at 135 and 145. My working sets were 75, 85 for 3 each. It would be interesting to see my 1 RM sometime soon so I have an idea of what to go off of for these.

B: 40×8, 45×7, 50×6, 50×6. Suckers are heavy and this was super taxing on my grip. I did them from the short box as Dr. Jeff suggested.

C: 55, 55, 55. Were there supposed to be 4 sets here?! On the second set I tried to go up to 65 and no buneo, was only able to do 2.5. So I took my rest and dropped back down to 55 and redid set two.

D: FLR…more of a mental fight at the end. I can go about 30-37 seconds each time depending upon what I had before it. I am starting to relax my shoulders some in these and I am finding a good balance. Still on my knees but feeling it in my core.

Cooled down with 10 minutes on the AB.

I saw a quote today, “Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think.” -Buddha
